Say Again, Bruce?
5/25/2005
Weather was really hot at 98 deg today, therefore rather bumpy up to 2000' due to thermals. The student who had just landed in 531CP said he'd been on the 'the triangle' to Georgetown, Austin Bergstrom, and back to Taylor, and he has 7 hours. Looks like I know what I'll be doing in a couple of hours time....
Ground school starts next week too.
Taxiing is getting much easier for me now, staying on that center line isn't so bad! Take off was good. We went to the practice area and did some power on stalls again. Stalling/climbing right, and climbing left too. Then it was back to the pattern for some touch n go's. I am still getting used to the fact that our landings are the power off type. However, they really do make sense for a light plane.
The third and final landing i actually required no help.....until the last second. Getting much more comfortable with them now. Bruce asked if i wanted to do one more, i said id had my fill for the day. However, when we got back and did the book, id only done .8 hr..dang. Still, at least the lesson was then $48 instead of the $60.....
Only gripe i have so far with the lessons is that Bruce has a tendency to talk low. So i have trouble catching what he says at times over the radio.
I also noticed that i never have a clue where I am at with reference to our position in flight? One road/field looks like another, and i lose my bearings easy. Maybe its because I'm focusing alot on flying at the moment, and not the navigation aspect. Hopefully 'keeping a sense of location' will get more acute as flying the plane becomes more natural...
